CSULB's Institute of Integrative Research of Materials, The Environment and Society (IIRMES) and Signal Hill Laboratory house state-of-the-art analytical instruments for isotope (stable and radioactive) analysis as well as for concentration measurements of environmental tracers at trace levels of parts per million (ppm), parts per billion (ppb), and even parts per trillion (ppt). This includes Volatile and Semi Volatile Organic compounds like Petroleum Hydrocarbons, Industrial Solvents, Explosives, Pharmaceuticals & Personal Care Products (PPCPs), and Endocrine Disruptors like Organochlorine Pesticides, Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs) and Polynuclear Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs).
